Regina's economy grew by more than 5% in 2011. This is largely attributed to the capital investment in industry, infrastructure and in housing.
Regina recorded $547 million in building permits in 2011.

It's official - total real estate sales have passed the $1 billion mark for the first time. Based on reports through the Association of Regina REALTORS® MLS® System, several new highs were sent in November 2011 compared to a year ago:

In the Regina area, home sales were as hot as the weather in September with new highs recorded for residential property sales. The number of sales in September 2011 was up 21% from the same time a year ago.

In Regina and area, residential home sales in May surpassed the 400 mark for the first time since July 2009. May’s average price of $296,838 set a new high for any month in the history of the Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc. MLS® System and was up 18% from May 2010. In the city, the average price of $304,370 was the first time ever to be above $300,000.
