PEI real estate - The Pondside area of Stratford is named for a development that occurred in 2003 that is adjacent to an older subdivision. The development filled up quicker than normal PEI standards. It was developed by the Schurman Building Supplies Companies (now Kent Building Supplies) which brought in many speculative builders as well as people contracting their own homes.

New Streets in this area are Hatheway Drive, Creekside Drive, MacBeth Court. Streets that were older and extended to are Emmalee Drive and Mitchell Drive.

There is a mixture of mid level to executive level homes with many young familes. Some of the homes are either on or have a very good view of the Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club

There was a second phase developed which connected through an Emmalee Drive and also the Keppoch Road. It is referred to as Pondside 2. It followed through on the success of Pondside and all lots are developed in these areas.

The Pondside subdivision aquired it's name from the neighboring park, Pondside Park. Pondside Park is located on the Stratford Road, in the heart of the core area of town. The park is an irregular shaped property comprising 11 acres of open and wooded areas bounded by residential properties, two small streams feed the Hatchery Pond. The property was originally the site of a government fish hatchery and, in 1994, the Community of Southport purchased the property from the Province.
