Slight Decrease in Residential Sales in Québec in July 2013
There were 5,386 residential sales transactions concluded through the Centris® system in Québec in July 2013. This represents a 2 per cent decrease compared to July 2012 and the twelfth consecutive monthly drop in sales. This decrease was primarily due to condominium sales, which fell by 9 per cent. Plex sales increased by 3 per cent and single-family home sales remained stable compared to July 2012.
The supply of properties for sale continued to increase. At the end of July 2013, there were 69,177 residential properties listed on the Centris® system, 10 per cent more than in July of last year.
The median price of single-family homes rose by 4 per cent to reach $225,000. This was the largest price increase since August 2012.
