Sales Transactions in Québec Decreased in February 2013

There were 6,453 residential sales transactions concluded by a real estate broker in the province of Québec in February 2013, a 19 per cent decrease compared to February 2012. Sales of condominiums registered the largest decrease at 24 per cent, while sales of both single-family homes and plexes fell by 18 per cent compared to February of last year.

All of the province’s Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs) registered a drop in sales in February. The Saguenay CMA (108 transactions) posted the smallest decrease at 2 per cent compared to February 2012, while the CMAs of Sherbrooke (175 transactions), Trois Rivières (86 transactions) and Gatineau (270 transactions) posted respective decreases of 17, 17 and 18 per cent. Sales in the Montréal CMA (3,415 transactions) and the Québec City CMA (617 transactions) fell by 22 and 25 per cent, respectively, compared to February 2012.
