The holidays are upon us again and, if you’re like me, there are at least a few people on your gift list that are the hard-to-buy-for types. To help me in my gift search, I’ve been asking around for creative ideas and I thought I’d share some with you:
- The Stationery Kit: Isn’t it annoying to run out of stamps or not have a thank-you card when you need one? Put together a stationery kit of items that are used up every year. Include a variety of greeting cards, gift bags, tissue paper, pens, pencils, scotch tape, and even stamps.
- The 12 Days of Christmas, the Eight Days of Chanukah or the Seven Days of Kwanza: The idea of a gift card is not unique but if you deliver it in a unique way, it will bring a smile even to the person who has everything. Buy a number of small-denomination gift cards to the person’s favorite restaurants and stores. Mail one card a day to coincide with the seven days of Kwanza, the eight days of Chanukah or the 12 days of Christmas. The recipient will have fun looking in his or her mailbox each day!
- The Gift of Service: Wouldn’t it be great to give a wonderful gift that didn’t cost you anything? Give the gift of personal service. Create your own gift certificate for things like a homemade dinner, a month of doing dishes, a summer of mowing the lawn, etc. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s appreciated.
Well, I’ve got to run because I still have more holiday shopping to do. I hope these ideas help you in your gift search for the person who has everything. Most importantly, I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons!
