R.D.P. – Closure of Louis-H.-Lafontaine Blvd.
In the past month, several clients and associates of Century 21 Excel have experienced some difficulties in reaching our office. The location of our office on Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard has necessitated a detour because of the construction along A25. In effect, Louis-H.-Lafontaine has been completely closed, since July 9, 2010, between Maurice-Duplessis and Henri-Bourassa Boulevards. This complete closure was deemed necessary in order to complete the Northern service road and the A25 autoroute, between Maurice-Duplessis and Henri-Bourassa. For the moment, the detour is via Albert-Hudon Street.
The South side service road, between Maurice-Duplessis and Henri-Bourassa, will be accessible as of August 15, 2010.
The North side service road, between Maurice-Duplessis and Henri-Bourassa, will be accessible as of August 29, 2010.
It should be noted as well that a section of Louis-H.-Lafontaine Blvd., between Maurice-Duplessis and Perras Boulevards, will be closed to traffic until October 7, 2010.
The work is progressing well and, despite the inconvenience, our brokers, as well as the citizens of R.D.P., are anxious for the link to Laval to be completed, sometime around the spring of 2011.
(2) Autoroute 25 North (R.D.P./Laval) – Electronic Toll
As brokers, the personnel members of Century 21 Excel must often travel to Laval for their work. The new Autoroute 25 bridge, which will link our community of R.D.P. to Laval, will greatly facilitate this task and will save us precious time.
There will, however, be tolls to pay. Users will profit from an electronic toll system unique in Quebec: traffic will proceed in a continuous fashion without delays or stoppages. The fee structure vignette accounts will become available prior to the opening of the A25 bridge.
The cost, which has yet to be determined, will be calculated according to the height of the vehicle. For those who are interested, here is what we know so far:
Category 1 Vehicles: this includes most cars, motorcycles, sport utility vehicles, mini vans and light trucks.
Category 2 Vehicles: Most semis and heavy commercial vehicles.
Category 3 Vehicles: Adapted transport vehicles, mass transit vehicles, school buses, ambulances and taxis. These vehicles are exempt from paying the toll, but they must be equipped with an electronic vignette.
The electronic vignette will become available before the opening of the A25 bridge. It will first be necessary to open an account at www.a25.com, to register the vehicle and the mode of payment desired. Next, an installation kit will be received by mail, which will include the electronic vignette and a user manual.
For those who do not open an account, for example occasional users, the vehicle will be identified by photographic recognition of the license plate, and the vehicle owner will receive an invoice through the mail. Although it will not be necessary to open an account, occasional users will be charged a slightly higher administrative fee.
Finally, we will see if the time we save will be worth the expense!
