Century 21 Excel Raises $2400.00 for Easter Seals Quebec

September 17 2011 was Century 21 Excel’s « Hot Dog Day », a special fundraiser for Easter Seals Quebec, an organization which, every year, helps some 700 handicapped children to attend a week at Camp Papillon. Situated in the heart of the Lanaudière region of Lake Pierre, Camp Papillon occupies an area of 40 acres. In service for the past 72 years, it represents one of the most important vacation camps for handicapped children in North America and offers swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, special Olympics, theater, music, plastic arts, soccer, basketball, hockey, rock climbing, etc…. everything needed to bring a child happiness!

Our team of staff and volunteers worked non-stop to offer an awesome day to the community of Rivière-des-Prairies! Hot dogs and beverages were furnished by Intermarché R.D.P. Our sponsors donated many prizes for raffles and for sale (see below for a complete list of our sponsors). The day was gorgeous, cool and sunny – the ideal weather to spend the day outdoors! Our volunteers organized a “Children’s Corner” in Century 21 Excel’s back yard, with make-up (furnished by Erica Samm Entertainment), tattooing, and games. All the children had fun!

In all, Century 21 Excel was able to raise 2400,00 $ for Easter Seals Quebec. A huge thank you to all who participated!

Century 21 Excel : Active in the Community

For the sixth consecutive year, Century 21 Excel has had the pleasure of participating in Projet Classes Affaires, an initiative allowing secondary students to obtain 35 hours of experience on the job market in the sector of their choice. Therefore, June 23^rd was the day we met with Dana Hishmih, student of D’Anjou High School: a charming, intelligent, interesting and enthusiastic girl – in short, the ideal student.

We passed a thoroughly enjoyable week together, and Dana learned several aspects of real estate from an administrative point of view: processing listings and sales of properties, customer service, and the thousand and one daily tasks of the office secretary: answering the telephone, doing correspondence, billing.

Even if the goal of Projet Classes Affaires is to enrich academic skills with concrete job experience, nonetheless, the experience has proved to be extremely enriching for me as well.

Since 2001, more than 6 400 students had the opportunity to be welcomed into 600 stage settings. Century 21 Excel is proud to be among the hundreds of professional mentors who made this commitment of community involvement and who had a direct impact on the social development and career orientation of high school youth.

R.D.P. News : A25 Bridge Opens This Week-End!

It’s official – Mr. Daniel Toutant, president and director-general of Concession A25, has announced that the opening to traffic of the new A25 bridge will take place on Saturday, May 21 2011, at 12:30 p.m. An official inauguration, including the notation of the first vehicular crossing, will precede the actual opening to general traffic.

On May 21 and 22, citizens will have the opportunity to test the new route for free, in order to allow them to see the new construction from up close and to familiarize themselves with the new crossing

Once the opening of the bridge has taken place, future users are invited to acquire their transponder as quickly as possible, all details of which can be found on the A25 official website, at a25.com.

Several brave souls faced the wind and the rain during the day of activities on the bridge organized by the A25 committee on May 14, 2011. Century 21 Excel was there with our cameras!

What does the opening of the bridge mean for clients of Century 21 Excel and for the community of R.D.P.? The opening of the A25 bridge and the addition of 7 km. of road, which will link the highways 25 and 440, will certainly encourage the growth of our community. It is good news for our citizens, and it is good news for commerce, as more commuters will have access to our businesses.

It is especially good news for those who hope to place their home on the market this year, since easy access to the bridge will encourage a greater number of people to settle in the community of R.D.P.

Seven Ways to Prepare Your Home for Spring

From the moment we feel that first warm spring breeze, we are anxious to breathe new life into our environment. Here are seven easy ways to prepare your home for spring:

Windows

1. Washing windows is a great way to allow fresh sunshine into your home. You can easily clean your windows with a do-it-yourself mixture of water and vinegar. Don’t forget to open your windows often to let the fresh spring breezes into your home and to eliminate the stale and stuffy winter air.

Perhaps it is time to actually replace those windows. The month of March is an ideal time to get a quote for new energy-efficient windows. Replacing the windows is one project that will enhance the entire look of your home, both inside and out!

The Refrigerator

2. Spring is a great time to clean and organize your fridge and your pantry. Once your fridge is clean, deodorize it by rinsing the door and shelves with a mixture of water and vanilla essence. Your whole fridge will smell clean and fresh!

Closets

3. Organize your closets. Remove all items of winter clothing that no longer serve you; throw out those that are worn or stained, and offer to charity the rest of the items which are still in good condition.

Upholstery and Curtains

4. Thoroughly vacuum your upholstery and curtains to remove all the dust and dirt, which tend to accumulate during the winter months. This chore will definitely ease all those springtime allergies.

7. Thoroughly test all the smoke alarms in your home and make sure that they are all working properly. Don’t forget to change the batteries!
