According to the most recent statistics published by the Greater Montreal Real Estate Board (GMREB), the Census Montreal Area (CMA) is off to a good start for the year.
For starters, there were 2,244 sales concluded during January 2017, an increase of 5% relative to January of last year. The increase was mostly due to condominium sales, notes Daniel Dagenais, president of the Board at GMREB, which went up by a whopping 21%. When we look at other types of properties, the plexes went up by 6%, whereas the sale of single-family dwellings decreased slightly, by 3%.
The number of active listings on Centris® continues to go down, however, dropping by 14% compared to January 2016.
