1. Declutterize (I know this isn't a word)
Make a house rule that for every new item that comes in an old item goes out. One thing that can lead to clutter is the over abundance of furniture. Just take a good look at what you have and figure out what you can live without.
2. Keep your furniture away from your walls.
This will open up the space and make it seem larger.
Make sure you have three types of lighting.
Ambient (overhead) - Task (reading) - Accent (table or shelf).
Also it would be really good to increase the wattage of the lightbulbs to atleast 100 for every 50 square feet
4.Paint Everything to match the hardware in the kitchen. This is an especially affordable way of improving the look of the kitchen without breaking the bank. White stove = white cabinets. You can also update the handles from knobs to something a little more contemporary, or whatever suits.
5. Finish anything that is unfinished. Unfinished projects can be a huge turn off for potential buyers. Missing floor boards. Missing Trim. Cracks in the pavement. Patched walls with no paint. Do your best to make sure that there are no projects on the go when it is time to show.
