School is back, and it seems like everyone is settling back into a routine after our beautiful summer here in the Okanagan. Salmon Season is upon us and the fishing seems to be plentiful this year, as one local told me.
This summer seemed particularly busy in my neck of the woods. Apparently there is a rumor that a movie is being filmed in a field near our little community of Enderby. I can not confirm that nor deny it either as I haven't seen anything with my own eyes, but it sure has brought a lot of people in search of some Hollywood stars. There again I haven't seen anyone with my own eyes so I can't confirm that either, but it is exciting to think that they picked the Okanagan to film their movie. (Why wouldn't they it is gorgeous here)
My little pizza shop in Enderby saw many tourists who were hiking the cliffs, paddle boarding down the river, or taking in a moonlit kayak trip on the Shuswap River. Tubing is one of the biggest attractions in the city of Enderby, it seems as soon as the river is safe enough, it is non stop floaty tubes heading out on the river. I am always amazed at the tubes you see going down the river, from little round tubes, to these massive blow up party boats some with blow up palm trees and roofs. Really it is quite impressive just to sit back and watch them all go by.
There was funtastic, IPE, rodeos, musical theatre, parades, open air markets, community clean ups, it seemed every where you looked something was happening.
Now as the weather changes, so are the events. Curling, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and so much more all will be starting up in the near future.
Its only a few of the reasons why I love living in the Okanagan. For more information on events in the area check out the local chamber of commerce’s, they should have all the information there.
