Belmont, ON

Belmont, Ontario is a community in the municipality of Central Elgin, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. It is located south-east of London and north-east of St. Thomas. Belmont has a population of approximately 1500 people.

Belmont was first settled by Joshua S. Odell in 1832 and called Kettle Creek. In 1849, a post office was opened as Plymouth 3 kilometres to the north of the settlement. By this point, the settlement was called Belmont. The citizens requested that the Plymouth post office be renamed Belmont, and in 1854, that the Belmont post office be moved south into the community. The origins of the name Belmont are not known.

Belmont was incorporated as a Village in 1961, and amalgamated with other area municipalities to form Central Elgin in 1998.

Skye has been abandoned and forgotten by it's owner. She has been in the care of Animal Control since January of 2013. She has been declawed and is such a sweetie of a cat, so affectionate but the large eyes reveal the pain of not having a loving home and people to treat her well. She has been spayed and declawed, and when I cuddled her she pressed against me in the hope that I would take her home ... Read More...

It's like Canada can't make up its' mind about whether or not it is winter or spring. This week has been mostly rain which has been a bit depressing. But then again it is April. I know it's over-priced. I know you have to wait in-line. I know that the specialty coffees are extremely high in calories! I know , I know, I just can't help myself. The Cinnamon Dolce is to die for! If I am feeling extra guilty (and let's face it who doesn't these days) I will go for a skinny latte. There are only about 100 calories and gives me a smile. Gosh it just smells so good. The staff ... Read More...
