Recently I was shopping for paint in my local Home Depot and stumbled upon a trend popular in fashion that has been around since the 70's in home design and is expected to make a comeback this upcoming year.
It is called Color Blocking and is a trend where you create a clean crisp and fresh look by selecting area of your home that would like to highlight.
Select one area in your home you want to draw attention to. It could be a section of a wall, the end off your hall or even your kitchen cabinets. Color the focal point a bright bold color and use a neutral color to surround it.
If you have never tried color blocking its best to start off small.
Begin with 2 colors and try keeping them within the same family.
You can even try this with at your dinner table by changing up the color of the dishes and napkins where everybody sits. A photo that I found by Martha Stewart does a great job at highlighting this.
The ideas that you can come up with are endless and there are many different varieties of patters and colors you can use.
So dare to be creative and different by trying something new.
You may be happy with your results.
Lastly if you are not quiet ready yet but want to browse your local paint shop for fun Color Blocking ideas you can always sip on one of these.
