Sailing in NIagara
Here is a view saling into the Niagara River from Lake Ontario.
I have been sailing for several years out of Niagara on the Lake Sailing Club. This terrific place has a great basin with many amenities. It is located close to the town with easy access to groceries or supplies.
The facilities are like new and well cared for. The main building and cottage offers showers, bathrooms and the main building has a great deck with an amazing view of the water.
During any day you can watch the junior sailing school, or sign yourself up for lessons. Contact the clubhouse for details 905 468 3966.
Club racing is generally Wednesday evening with first start around 630pm. This is a great activity to watch. The club has an olympic octagon setup just north of Fort Niagara, on Lake Ontario. We have several fleets racing in the evenings. Including main and jib, Benteteaus, Sharks, PHRF1, etc.
I sail a Tanzer 7.5, Tangent (below) and enjoy the experiences that sailing has made available to me. Our boat is a great small cruiser for weekends or perfect for day sailing around Niagara.
