As a member of the city of Selkirk Heritage committee I just want to share the following letter from 2 of the hardest working and dedicated heritage helpers I have met;
they are putting their time and love of history on the line to keep our heritage fun and informative
if u need some fancy clothes. Don't look at me my oldest item is a 70's jeans vest my wife probably found a way to throw out when I went fishing
Have you ever wanted to go to a Garden Party a la Downton Abbey? Well, here's your chance!! This is your invitation!
People who are costumed ( like Downton Abbey) get in free and so does everyone else - but you will get better service!! Imagine tea and crumpets /playing croquet on the lawn, music and speeches by famous dead guys!
If anyone is interested in playing a role - or actually impersonating a historic figure - please contact me. No money ... only fame ( and more crumpets..whatever they are) as a reward!
And while we're in the mood for nostalgia...
Our next walking tour
of downtown Selkirk is on June 25
, but it has an adult theme: Saints and Sinners. Tickets at the Gaynor Family Regional library. Refreshments at Benjamin's Gourmet Foods, afterwards (included in the $15 price).
This walking Tour ticket is an Ideal (ie cheap) Father's Day gift ( it beats a tie and gets dad out of the house for a couple of hours of healthy exercise).
Hope to see you soon at one of these historically biased events sponsored by the Red River North Regional Heritage Group!
All the best to you,
Laurel and Rob Sarginson
