Selkirk is a small city with a population of 10,000 residents located in Manitoba along the Red River. It is only about 22 km from Winnipeg, the capital of the province. Tourism, the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, and a steel mill are the main elements of the local economy. A vertical lift bridge across the Red River connects the town to East Selkirk.

Getting Around in Selkirk
Selkirk has a fixed-route public transit system operated by Selkirk Transit Authority. It runs from 6 am to 6 pm Mondays to Fridays, and 8 am to 6 pm on Saturdays. It does not operate on Sundays.
Selkirk Mobility provides door-to-door assisted transportation services to those in need in the city. It runs from 7 am to 5 pm Mondays through Fridays and from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Ridesharing options are available through Go Manitoba.
Those who live within the town will find that some places are within easy walking distance. However, most of the residents will have vehicles so they can travel around town, to Winnipeg, and other locations.
