Newmarket-Aurora Federal Liberal Association will celebrate on Sunday, February 15th the 50th birthday of Canada's flag. This flag is one of the many legacies of Lester B. Pearson, a Liberal, who was the 14th Prime Minister of Canada. His early years were spent in Aurora, and his family home is still standing.
The party will be held in the Ballroom of Hillary House, a National Historical Site, at 15732 Yonge Street which is located two blocks north of Wellington Street on the west side of Yonge Street in Aurora. Off-site parking is available at various locations around Hillary House.
Please come and enjoy birthday cake and refreshments - from 2 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and you will receive a free Canadian flag and pin.
This is also a chance to meet and chat with NAFLA candidate Kyle Peterson.
Our event will also feature the selection of the winners of a 50 word essay contest as to why the Canadian flag means so much to each entrant. Children up to age 14 years and seniors 60 years and older may submit their written essays by Feb 13th to canadaflagbirthday@gmail.
