Personal Background

I have had the pleasure of living in a number of Southwestern Ontario cities before settling in Stratford for my adolescent years. My husband and I then spent a number of years in Mississauga before choosing to make Cambridge our home, a decision we view as one of the best we have ever made.

I hold my B.A. in English from the University of Toronto after beginning my post-secondary career at the University of Waterloo.

Community Involvement

I was recently recruited to be the Block Parent Representative for our school, we support many of our local Neighbourhood Association programs and I play clarinet with the Kitcher Music Society Community Band, a talented bunch of musicians that are also a lot of fun.  We are a busy family but that is the best way to know your neighbours. My family and I are connected with our neighbourhood through community centres, local athletic involvements and sitting on School Council. We love where we live and strive to be active participants in as many Cambridge activities as we can.

YMCA Speaking Circles

Oftentimes when a person has immigrated to Canada, and English is not their native language, they try to learn through English as a Second Language Courses. This route will teach them "proper" English but not always how to get along on a daily basis. To help close the gap between "learned" and "used" English, the YMCA Immigration Services runs various Speaking Circles around Cambridge. This is a place to learn conversational skills and, like it or not, slang. It's hard enough to learn a new language but what on earth does "gottago" mean??
