Recreational Property Purchases on the Rise

Here's an article from RIS Media regarding the rise in US recreational property purchases. As the article points out, this doesn't just mean Americans purchasing American properties, but also coming to Canada. http://rismedia.com/2013-04-16/the-vacation-home-makes-a-comeback/

Now, if we can get them to rediscover our North Island communities, maybe that mythical 'rich American' I keep hearing about will become a reality. The article mentions that many recreational properties are purchased for cash - that is certainly possible with condos from the $40,000s - $50,00s, houses from the $60,000s - $200,000s in our beautiful North Island communities.

CENTURY 21 Global Conference

Brian and I are having a great time at the Global Conference. The mood is very upbeat. The US market is beginning to recover, with predictions of 9% increase in sales for 2013 in the US and 'affordability' rating at 201%, meaning that an average wage earning US family has 201% of the income necessary to qualify to purchase an average priced home. It is very good to hear these positive predictions coming from the US market, as what happens there does influence our market, particularly in the North Island communities. Watch this spot for more information as the conference continues this week.
