The month leading up to Christmas requires stamina and precision to be able to execute the dance to just get to Christmas Day. There are always tons of festivals, recitals, shows, friends and family nearby to help you celebrate Christmas any way that you choose and if you have kids than the number of options available double!
If you are coming to the Haliburton Highlands this winter holiday and are looking for things to do remember to check out websites such as www.haliburtonholidays.com for coming events as well as the community board at the intersection of County Rd 21 and Gelert Rd. in Haliburton, plus of course the local newspapers and Facebook! Although we will have to wait a bit longer for snowshoeing and snowmobiling, Sir Sam`s Ski and Bike opened for the season the weekend of December 8th-9th and are ready to have you test out your skiing legs!
Christmas for me personally is a time to reflect on the year that has past and to spend valuable time with my loved ones without many of the external interruptions that can distract us through the rest of the year. I am so looking forward to having several days in a row of "laziness" (translation: pajama days, movie marathons, books to read and snuggles and snowy walks with my children). My plans won`t be considered exciting to most (no trip south, no fantastic parties) but for me, the quality time with my family is all that I could ask for this year and any year.
Have a wonderful holiday season and remember to discover and embrace what is important to you this holiday season!
