Movies in the Highlands!

Movies.  For many they are an evening pastime and a quick jaunt to the nearest theater to see the most current release. In Haliburton County they are more of an adventure. With the closing of the Beaver Theater and the Molou in Haliburton within the last 10 years our options on where to go to watch a movie have been drastically shrunk!

From May to October we have the Highlands Cinemas located in Kinmount for new releases and a really cool opportunity to peek into the history of movies while touring the movie museum at the theater!  It's well worth the drive - trust me!

For the rest of the year we have a movie brought to town the 2nd Thursday of the month as part of "Those Other Movies." Those Other Movies are a non-profit organization run by volunteers which operate as part of the Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Those wonderful volunteers at Those Other Movies also provide 2 movie festivals per season.  In November they host the Haliburton International Film Festival (HIFF) and in the spring they host Doc(K) Day - a documentary film festival.

Now in its 6th year HIFF will be held at the Northern Lights Pavilion November 2-4th with the following movies being shown. If you are looking for something to do why not stop in and check out a movie!
