Circulating on my Facebook account is a "Positivity Challenge" prompting my friends and family members to come up with 3 items that they are grateful or thankful for. I was recently tagged into this challenge (although I have suspected for while that it was coming) and have therefore, had plenty of time to think about the things that I most wish to acknowledge in my own life.
Number two on the list, right behind my beloved family and friends, is where I chose to live. By this I mean, not only the Beautiful Haliburton Highlands that I call home, but also the great country of Canada. We are truly blessed to live in a country that doesn't sit on the cusp of war with other countries or within its own borders. We have an amazing standard of living and the opportunity to travel to other countries less fortunate then we, for a direct comparison, should the news not reveal enough of the world's problems.
Living here in the Haliburton Highlands is simply the icing on the cake. With the hundreds of lakes, numerous hiking trails, bike routes, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, live theater, live musical performances, amazing restaurants and thriving community mindedness that make us unique - we are truly fortunate to have such an abundance.
Are you up for a challenge? What's the best part of the Haliburton Highlands to you?
