ColourFest! 2013 is coming to Haliburton Village Saturday, October 5th from 10am-3pm featuring loads of great things!
I'm going to give you a really quick summary of what's going to be here. Are you ready?? Take a deep breath and here we go... We'll have pancake breakfast, classic car show, farmer's market, pontoon boat rides on Head Lake, giant pumpkin contest, kids games tent, community booths, scarecrow contest, dancing (Heritage Ballet Dancers & Haliburton Dance Academy), live music (Carl Dixon, Shout Sister & 50-50 Band), pet contest and a BBQ Beef Dinner to round out the day. Whew, that is a jam packed day and if the weather holds for us it will be absolutely GORGEOUS too!
Gorgeous you say!? Perhaps that will be a great day to tour the county looking at the changing colours???
Of course, that is always a popular option however, if you are looking for places to stop, so as to extend your drive, you should check out the opening weekend of the 2013 Haliburton County Studio Tour which runs both October 5 & 6th and Oct 12th & 13th from 10am - 5pm! With at least 28 local artists set up on the tour, what's not to love. You can see how and where these artists live and work and in some cases watch their creations being born. Our office has a wonderful map available showing the artist, a description of their artwork and includes a map to tell you how to find your artist. So, stop in. We'd be happy to be the start to your tour. It truly can't get much better then that!
Except... that you can also...wait for it...head up to Sir Sam's Ski and Bike in Eagle Lake and take the opportunity to ride the chair lift to the top of the hill and view the colours changing with Eagle and Moose Lakes in the foreground. Here's a photo from the Sir Sam's website showing just what I'm talking about from a previous year. You should grab your camera and make this your own memory instead of someone else's.
So, what are you waiting for?? Come on up to the Haliburton Highlands, we have a world of entertainment waiting for you!
