As the days get shorter and the nights get colder we realize that winter is coming sooner than we might otherwise wish! The dog days of summer have clearly left us for another year and even the leaves on the trees are retreating to begin the conversion to ...winter.
With the arrival of winter, and of the snow that will soon fall, we can begin to anticipate all of the wonderful winter activities that we have available in Ontario and in Haliburton County in particular.
Some of my favourites are downhill skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and tobogganing. Others that are available specifically in Haliburton County include a game of outdoor hockey, cross country skiing, dog sledding, tubing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and the old fashioned walk in the falling snow. Yes, we do in fact live inside a snow globe setting - it's part of the charm and appeal of Haliburton County.
We are fortunate to live in a place that offers 4 season fun and while the fall has always been my favourite season (for the beauty of the changing leaves), I do look forward to the change in outdoor activities that winter will bring.
Of course, once you've been outside playing in the snow you have to then head inside where you can rewarm in front of a warm fire with a lovely warm mug of hot chocolate. I'll meet you there! ;)
