Rutland Convenience Store - 24 Flavors!
Excerpt from www.RUTLANDERS.ca - Rutland's Community Website:

I took the afternoon off today to compensate for some extra evening & weekend work I’ve got coming up. I got to pick up my son from school which was a treat. After school I took the older two kids to the Rutland Convenience Store (what used to be Louie’s Neighborhood Market for as long as I can remember). I’ve noticed since summer they have been advertising “24 flavors of soft ice cream” on the sign outside. Each time I read it I think, “24 flavors, how is this possible?”, everyone knows that ever since it was invented, soft ice cream has come in 3 flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and ...twist. Either this place must have the world’s largest wall of soft ice cream dispensers or there is something I don’t yet know.
Well...the kids and I were going to find out.
To my amazement, it all happens in one oversized machine. The kids wanted bubble gum flavor, I wanted espresso, and the magic machine gave us exactly what we asked it for.
In all seriousness, the ice cream was yummy and fun for the kids to choose a flavor and the couple running the shop is super nice. They’ve got all the normal convenience store stuff plus lots of grocery items and a really neat selection of what looked like hard to find ethnic Indian groceries (rice, flour, spices, sauces, etc).
To sum it up: yummy ice cream, good selection, really nice people.
Visit them on the corner of Rutland Road North & Hartman Road (see their listing on the
Rutlanders.ca Community Directory).
