The new Orillia City Council is making good on their promises. There is approval in place for the new rec center to be built on the West Street property. Former Councils had eventually turned down this site due to soil contamination. As this land sits undeveloped with mounds of dirt & pockets of water, the project seemed to be floating away. No doubt more testing will take place until accepted levels are gained. This developed land will help with the downtown growth with more people coming and going to the rec center. This will help with revenue streams for Orillia's downtown. It should be an all around win situation for Orillia. It will be creating progress for the city & add that well needed curb appeal for the West Street south area.
