The 62nd annual Oakville Santa Claus Parade moved through downtown Oakville and along Kerr Street on a balmy Saturday morning November 20th. The theme this year was A "Reel Christmas" as all floats had a movie theme.
Featured at the front of the parade was Hans Taals' " Trees for Toys" float. The truck and trailer- donated by Errol Munn of UHaul on Woody Road- featured " Cinderella and two fairy princesses. The 12 ' float was decorated with 12 foot trees, huge presents, sleigh and toys.
The annual Trees for Toys project, is a fun charitable program where donated Christmas Trees are given away, free, to the first 100 people bringing an unwrapped toy or gift to the Hans Taal, Century 21 Miller event at 467 Speers Road on Saturday, December 4th, 2010 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. This year, Trees for Toys is focusing on Teenagers (ages 12 - 16) as they are often overlooked.
This event is designed to focus on the true emphasis of Christmas – the gift of Giving, as well as reducing a special need for assistance in the local community. Everyone involved will benefit. Our goal is to provide over 400 teenagers with a gift at Christmas. You receive a free tree, and all unclaimed trees will be donated to families in the Oakville area. What a wonderful way to give back to our community. All toys donated will go to the 14th Annual Salvation Army Toy Mountain campaign to be distributed to Oakville and area teenagers.
Please come and join me and visit with Santa as well as participate in face painting, entertainment and refreshments. For a full list of gift suggestions go to www.treesfortoys.ca or email me at email@example.com
