A POPPY - A SYMBOL OF THOSE WHO FOUGHT FOR US

  As Remembrance Day approaches, many people will be seen sporting the traditional poppy on their shirts and coats.  But why the Poppy?

Mark Cullen, Canada's garden expert, explains that the Poppy represents the tenacity of the soldiers who went to war.

Cullen explains that, if you were to go to France in the spring, you wouldn't see a lot of Poppies, because everything else is growing.  But during the war nothing else would grow - nothing but the Poppy.  This is why we use the Poppy to symbolize the men and women who engaged in was.
