Its a historic first for the St.Thomas Police Service. Our local force will be forming the first ever Canine Unit. A civil remidies grant of over $66,000 from the ministry of the Attorney General will cover most of the start up costs including a new Canine Vehicle.
Police Chief Darryl Pinnell said there are many contributing factors that have made the new unit possible. Pinnell adde that this unit was formed without there being any burden on the taxpayer. Constable Sean Janes will be deployed fro mthe Uniform Strength Division t obe the new canine handler
