We're just over a week into a new school year, and, along with learning, the safety of everyone at the school is one of the top priorities. John Mombourquette, superintendent of safe schools with the London District Catholic School Board, says they've been working for years to ensure the highest level of safety in their schools.
He goes on to say one of the key reasons for implementing these features is to ensure the safety of everyone at the school. Mombourquette says they like to prepare a number of contingencies, and also, the locked dors prevent strangers from just walking in. Montourquette says about a year ago, the minister of education sent funds to schools to enhance security, while the LDCSB had already been working on it, they used the money for additional enhancements.
