If you are looking for a home in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, right now and had your sights on being in a golf course community, and thinking Glenway.......well here is a heads up.
THERE ARE ISSUES!!!!
Over 600 residents attended a town hall meeting a few weeks ago regarding some changes in zoning that could or could not happen.
An application was submitted by Marianneville Developments, a consortium including the Kerbel Group, Andrin Homes, Lakeview Homes, and the Brown Group of Companies, to develop more than one-half of the existing Glenway Golf Course with an additional 730 housing units and commercial use, including an executive 9-hole golf course. But then who do you trust on even that becoming or staying a golf course 3 years later?
So the issue is....all of these homes backing onto currently open green space ( formerly a golf course from the early 80's) will now possibly be having back yard neighbours. For more information, click here for a link to an article by Glenway Preservation Association.
So before you buy, ask those questions or work with a REALTOR(R) who knows the area.
