The community of Jefferson, Richmond Hill, is the only one that straddles Yonge Street. It is a newly developed area, at least, when describing real estate and homes. With the neighbourhood only being developed in the last 10-15 years, it is ironic that this area was, almost, the central part of the failed Windham settlement of the Comte de Puisaye in the early 1800's. The original French settlers, probably, recognized the growth potential of Jefferson, but they were two centuries too soon.

The Jefferson Forest subdivision on the east side of Yonge Street flows along Jefferson Forest Drive as it curves south towards Nineteenth Avenue. Misty Well Drive, Wolf Trail Crescent, Ravine Edge Drive and Shadow Falls Drive are well-known streets in this neighbourhood. Newer townhomes on Post Oak Drive and the original estate homes of Glen Meadow Lane on the west side of Bayview Avenue complete the eastern portion of Jefferson.
