What does a " Substantially Renovated Home " mean? Do you need to pay HST when selling?

Are you planning on substantially renovating a home and selling it ? Sometimes renovated homes are subject to HST charges, as are new constructed homes. CRA considers a home substantially renovated if 90% of its interior walls have been removed . This means you will need to charge HST to the buyer, which won't make the price of your home very attractive anymore. Same thing applies to residential rental properties. If you are interested how to avoid the HST please contact me .
