Neighbourhood Information
Beasley

Beasley is a neighbourhood in the lower city of Hamilton bounded in the north by the Canadian National Railway tracks, just north of Barton Street, in the West by James Street, and in the South by Main Street and in the East by Wellington Street. Beasley is one of the older and one of the first neighbourhoods in Hamilton. Beasley is named after Richard Beasley, one of Hamilton’s first settlers. Financial difficulties forced him to sell the land, and it was later purchased by Sir Allan MacNab who in 1832 built Dundurn Castle on the foundation of Richard Beasley’s brick home. Beasley Park is also named after him. Some local attractions are 77 Night Club, Theatre Aquarius and International Village. During the summertime, The Mustard Festival takes place. Hamilton is home to the largest miller of Dry Mustard in the world. There is food and drink, and also The Mustard Festival features some of the top Blues and Jazz acts in the region.
