Annual blanket drive keeps people warm in the Lower Mainland

This years annual blanket drive provided warm blankets and clothing for over 20,000 people in the Lower Mainland.

This was the 19th year of the blanket drive sponsored by realtors and their boards and because of the unusually cold snap of weather a lot of donations were put to immediate use by the people who need them the most.  Jackets, gloves, sleeping bags and of course blankets were much appreciated by many Lower Mainland residents.

Two regular beneficiaries, the Dr. Peter Centre and Surrey Memorial hospital Patient resource department, commented on how helpful, especially during this time of year, the donations are; Sharon Frizell from SMH: "It's really, really helpful. We could never have enough coats on hand without the Realtors Care Blanket Drive."

The blanket drive has been running since 1994 and has become the largest of its kind, assisting more than 225,000 people.
