Well, tomorrow is Halloween and it's time to send the kiddies out trick or treating. It’s always so much fun to see the little ones in their costumes having fun. As part of our promise to always take care of our valued clients, we would like to pass on some safety tips for this very special night.
- Choose The Right Costume – Make sure that costumes are labelled “flame-resistant”. Flowing skirts and capes, baggy or over sized sleeves or costumes can be hazardous around candles or flames. Make sure costumes are bright and easily seen by motorists. Use make-up when possible instead of masks so that children can see and breathe easily. (make sure to test any make up on your child’s skin before using in case of allergic reaction). Finally, make sure the costume can fit over warm clothing to ensure your child will stay dry and keep out the cold.
- Decorate Safely – While children can have fun drawing the faces on their pumpkins, only adults should be carving or using knives to create jack-o-lanterns. Use battery operated candles to avoid having to use real candles and create a possible fire hazard. If using real candles anywhere, be sure to keep matches and lighters out of the reach of children.
- Be Cautious - Make sure your child has a flashlight and go trick or treating with them. Always look their treats over before allowing them to eat anything to ensure there are no potential choking hazards or items that may cause allergic reactions.
By following these simple steps, you can be sure that your children will have a safe and fun Halloween. We look forward to seeing your little ones and will always be here as YOUR KEY TO OXFORD COUNTY…
