Residential sales activity for the month of August recorded through the MLS® System of the Cambridge Association of REALTORS® was up on a year-over-year basis for the 6th consecutive month in October 2011.
According to the Board's statistics home sales numbered 217 units in October, up 9% from levels reported int he same month last year. There have been 2488 homes that have traded hands so far this year. This is 7% above levels reported int eh first 10 months of 2010.
The average price for homes sold in October 2011 was $284,515.00, up 2% compared to October 2010.
There were 950 active residential listings on the Board's MLS® System at the end of October, up 12% from levels reported at the same time last year. The number of active listings on the market has been trending upward sine May, but is now showing tentative signs of topping out.
Sales of all types of properties numbered 225 units in October, up 9% on a year-over-year basis. The dollar value of all sales in October 2011 totalled $64 million, up 8% from levels reported in October 2010.
