Thanks for Greening Our Community!

- Reduced 21,258 tonnes of carbon emissions each year (ongoing)
- Saved $5.2 million in energy costs each year (ongoing)
- Contributed $36.3 million to the local economy through home upgrades
- Received over $7 million in grants from federal and provincial governments
ecoENERGY Grants to Return
Due to an error on Natural Resources Canada’s website there has been information circulating that the extension of the ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program has begun. Natural Resources Canada has not confirmed that this information is correct.
If your customers would like to participate, we recommend that they wait and book their evaluation after the program start-date and other details are confirmed by Natural Resources Canada. This will ensure that your customers qualify for grants. We will notify you immediately when we receive further details.
During this time we are booking and completing home energy evaluations, however, due to the lack of official announcement from Natural Resources Canada we cannot guarantee that homeowners will qualify for ecoENERGY grants.
Double Grants in Kitchener
Through the Kitchener Home Energy Improvement Program, offered exclusively through REEP, grants for insulation and air sealing are now available to owners of Kitchener homes built on or before December 31, 1969. Many pre-1970’s homes have walls with no effective insulation and therefore have potential for substantial energy savings.
Only Kitchener residents who book an initial home energy evaluation with REEP are eligible for the program. Grants will be based on the ecoENERGY grant amounts (which have yet to be confirmed) and are available on a first-come-first-served basis, based on completion and verification of the home retrofit.
After the ecoENERGY program extension has begun, these Kitchener grants will be received in addition to the ecoENERGY grants.
The Kitchener Home Energy Improvement Program is available thanks to the City of Kitchener’s Local Environmental Action Fund (LEAF), which has provided $500,000 to the program. For more information visit the Kitchener Home Energy Improvement Program page on our website.
