Going solar seems to be making grounds here in Canada and more and more people are jumping on the solar band wagon.
Ontario provides incentives for people to install solar and sell it back to the Utility Company. The goal is to get consumers to pay for the cost of the panels and reap the rewards over several years. This way we can offset the need to bring on new power plants.
The question you have to ask is it a worthwhile investment? The cost of the solar panels seems very expensive for what you are getting. I also have to wonder how these panels impact the saleability of a home. After all they are ugly and until they find a way of blending it into the home construction many people will simply not want to ruin the looks of their home.
