If you live in Kitchener-Waterloo, especially in the Uptown Waterloo area you will undoubtedly have noticed all of the new condominium housing going up. But you may have not come across The Silver Thread Lofts on Devitt Avenue South between Allen and Erb Streets.
I have been watching the progress of this building since the developers put up their sign and demolished the old building (site of the Ufflemans family business The Silver Thread Sauerkraut Factory). It is now about two weeks away from the first owners moving in and I was fortunate to be given a tour of the building.
Adam Overing, one of the partners of the Madison Group walked me through the suites. During the tour he pointed out the ten foot high concrete ceilings, hand tooled hardwood floors and the granite counters. The units range in price from $259,800 to $389,800. Maintenance costs are approximately $.29 per square foot.
Even though this building is only three stories high it has an elevator. No more trudging up flights of stairs carrying the groceries.
If you are interested in looking at these suits the showroom is usually open on the weekends. It is a building worth viewing.
