Conestogo, ON

Conestogo is a small community found within Woolwich Township in Waterloo Region. With the only school in the community being Conestogo Public School (grades K-8) located in the middle of the village, this area is ideal for families with young children who enjoy being within close travelling distance of the elementary school. The surrounding area is largely a Mennonite community, making it quite common to see a horse and buggy travelling up and down the streets at any given time. Conestogo is a convenient 5 minute drive from Waterloo, 10 minutes from Kitchener, and 15 from Guelph.

Conestogo is becoming quite an exclusive community in that because it is almost centered between Waterloo, Kitchener, and Guelph, it provides a convenient travelling distance to each of the three busier and growing cities, while also giving you more of the green space and charm of the country side.

One main attraction in Conestogo would be the Conestogo Golf and Country Club. A 27-hole course, this course has been built with the Grand River running directly through the grounds, providing beautiful views as well as a challenge for golfers.

This community has a number of small businesses that are thriving within the area. Along the main road itself (Sawmill Road) there is a restaurant (The Black Forest Inn), a steakhouse (Adam’s Steakhouse), a bed and breakfast (1842 Bed & Breakfast), a cafe (Rumble Tum Cafe & Gifts), and an infant & children’s store (Baby Charlotte). The oldest of these businesses have been established since the mid-1800s.

The Conestogo Iron Bridge provides one of the most picturesque views within the community. This is a single lane bridge on Glasgow Street that crosses over the Conestogo River leading from the main road in the area towards open fields of farmland, and later to Southwest Waterloo. On the Waterloo end of the road, there are plenty of well known landmarks, including Grey Silo Golf Club, RIM Park, and the Country Squire Community (known for homes with large plots of land within the city of Waterloo).

The average sale price in the past 12 months for homes in the Conestogo area are about $582 000, the highest prices reporting up to about 1 million dollars. Our local expert on Conestogo real estate is Roy Singh our Broker of Record who can help your learn more about the area.
