As a warm up to the 2010 Olympics, women's hockey is holding a tournament at GM Place from August 31-September 6. The four teams participating are Sweden, Finland, USA, and Canada. Canada had little trouble in their first two games against Sweden and Finland where they won by a combined total of 17-2. Last night was a different story. Canada got into some serious penalty trouble early in the game against their arch rivals, the US, and didn't get any rythm going until late into the third period. By then it was too late. The result was a 4-2 loss for Canada. It was exciting to see live, although both the loss and the lack of fan support (half empty arena) were disappointing. At any rate, providing both Canada and the US win in their semi final games on Saturday, Canada will have an opportunity to redeem themselves on Sunday. Go Canada!
