Family Fun Charitable Events this Weekend

Happy Friday! There are some great Holiday events happening this weekend which I feel you should know about. First is the annual Teddy Bear Toss at this Saturday's Vancouver Giants game (vs the Saskatoon Blades) at the Pacific Coliseum, starting at 7pm. After the hometown team lights up the red bulb behind the net of the opponent, the 10,000 plus fans in attendance will be allowed to toss their furry friends onto the ice where volunteers from the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau will join Giants players in collecting the toys. Proceeds of the toss, a perennial favorite for fans, players and Giants staff, will be handed over to The Province's Empty Stocking Fund and the CKNW Orphans Fund. The fund supports 27 area Christmas bureaus, community service centers and Salvation Army offices. I hope you can make it! Another fantastic annual event is the Rogers Santa Claus parade taking place this Sunday at 1pm. The parade starts on Georgia St, to Howe St then ends at Davie St. The untimely passing of Rogers founder Ted Rogers earlier this week has now turned the parade into a celebration of Rogers' life. A statement from the president and CEO of Rogers Retail, Chuck Van der lee states, "to honor him, we feel more strongly than ever about making a positive impact on our community through the parade. We're urging all parade attendees to make a donation this year". Hope you can make it out to the parade! Don't forget your donations for the food bank and be sure to wear your rain gear! Have a great weekend!
