The day before Halloween, my six year old daughter and I were shopping in Chapters. Not that unusual in itself. What was strange, however, was the Christmas music and displays before November! My children hadn't even tasted halloween candy, and they're already dreaming of sugarplums!
It was when I heard the holiday muzak that I remembered; THIS IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR FOR THE PRUDENT BUYER.
I've always encouraged my clients that are still looking at this time of year that it's time to ramp up our search.
Sellers that are listed right now are ready to sell. Unlike some of the spring and summer sellers that are just dipping their toes in the water. It takes quite a lot of work to keep your home "show ready" in the busy holiday season.
Sellers are more likely to negotiate a price at this time of year. It allows them to go into the Christmas season with the security of knowing their home is sold. One more thing to celebrate over Christmas!
Buyers can celebrate getting that price, and have a new home to move into in the new year. Everybody's a winner!
Don't forget; when those same sellers get their credit card bills in the new year, they'll be less likely to give you that great price.
