Happy Canada Day Vancouver!

Happy Canada Day Vancouver!

Yes, despite the wet weather that we've been experiencing, it's time to celebrate the special day that makes us a nation and ushers in summer! And not to worry, we are promised very summer-like weather for the day - and beyond. In fact it could reach 26 degrees on Monday, July 1st, so bring along the sun screen and enjoy some of the wonderful events going on in Vancouver.

O Canada! Probably the biggest celebration will be at Canada Place. This is their 26th Annual Canada Day Celebration, and they are offering 13 hours of free, non-stop entertainment starting at 10AM, with something for everyone. In honour of Canada's 146th birthday, everything including live music, Canadian regional foods, Armed Forces displays, and a Citizenship Ceremony, will be going on for your entertainment. The Canada Day Parade goes from 7PM to 8PM and the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Display will  begin at 10:30PM.

This year will mark the 5th Annual Canada Day Parade, beginning at Broughton St. and heading east on Georgia, then north on Burrard and ending at Pender.

Granville Island will also be hosting their annual Canada Day celebrations. Take in all the free jazz that you can, get a temporary tattoo, talk to some wild wandering characters and eat your way through their parade! This will be Granville Island's 14th Annual Canada Day Parade. It begins at 1:30PM at Ocean Construction and arrives at 2:00PM at Ron Basford Park. Kids can decorate their bikes and follow along! Parking is free all day long on the Island, as are pins and flags. There will also be fireworks to cap off the day's events.

And for those who just want to kick back and enjoy the sun, there are any number of beautiful beaches at which to spend the day. Here is a list of some of the best beaches that the city has to offer. Pack a picnic, grab the kids and make a real family event of it!

Whatever you decide to do, be safe, apply your sunscreen and thank your lucky stars that you live in one of the most beautiful cities, in one of the best countires in the world. Happy Birthday, Canada!
