New $458 Million dollar retractable roof for BC Place announced today

Today the BC government has announced that the plan to put on a new roof for BC Place will go ahead after all.  The skyline of downtown Vancouver will change for ever when construction of the new retractable roof will start after the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.  The new roof will cost an estimated $458 million dollars to build and will be hopefully finished in time for the 2011 Grey Cup in Vancouver.  I am not sure why they did not tear down BC Place and build a new stadium well other than money but they have decided to put the new roof on instead which is certainly needed after the roof was torn apart after a winter storm in January 2007 almost 3 years ago. This new roof will be great for the BC Lions football games and the Vancouver Whitecaps MLS Soccer team. go to this CBC news story to read more about the new roof at BC Place stadium
