The Return of the Streetcar in Vancouver

I had the opportunity to ride the streetcar yesterday here in Vancouver.  Although only a travel distance of 1.8 kms, it was quite a cool experience.  These cars are built by Bombardier and are on loan from Belgium during the Olympics.  They are extremely quiet and smooth and if line ups to ride them are any indication, they are definitely a huge hit.  Currently, the route runs from the Olympic Village Skytrain Station to Granville Island but they propose to eventually have it go through to Stanley Park
