Virtual Tour versus Video Tour for Real Estate Marketing: What is the Difference?

What is the difference between a 360 or Virtual Tour and a Video Tour with regards to Real Estate Marketing?

A 360 Tour is usually composed of a sequence of videos or still images.  Virtual tours are made up of a number of shots taken from a single vantage point.  Here is an example of a 360 Tour we had done for a listing at #315-700 Klahanie Drive, Port Moody:  Click Here

Here are tours that we had done for #207-260 Newport Drive, Port Moody and #215-3142 St John's Street, Port Moody.  They are actually a mix of Photographs and Panning Video footage that give the illusion of a Video Tour:


An actual Video Tour is a full motion video of a location. Unlike the Virtual Tour's static wrap-around feel, a Video Tour is as if you were walking through a location. Using a video camera, the location is filmed while moving from place to place. Video tours are continuous movement taken at a walking pace.

Do you see the difference?  While the quality is obviously better for a video tour of the Shangri-La, I do not believe that a video tour is always the best option.  It is important to consider the size of the space one needs to shoot or advertise.  A smaller condo is likely to "show" better with a mix of photographs and panning video footage.  However,  a larger detached home in Point Grey and Shaughnessy or a penthouse condo in Yaletown and Coal Harbour would definitely benefit from an actual Video Tour.
