Willow Street Lofts, Truro Nova Scotia

I was born and lived for 12 years in the town of Truro, a town in the very middle of Nova Scotia. Like my mother before me I attended Willow Street School from Kindergarten to grade 6 (mom and I actually had a teacher in common which is still a bit weird). Willow Street Lofts.jpg

A few things I learned while at Willow Street School:

  • Basketball is fun (though I haven't touched a ball in probably 5 years.
  • Math is hard (I am a bit better now)
  • Handwriting is not my thing. In fact, my grade 3 teacher Ms. McKinnon (sp) actually sent me back to grade 2 for a day to practise my handwriting. Well guess what Ms McKinnon...didn't work, ask my managing broker.

Enough about me. A number of years ago Willow Street School closed its doors for the final time. I was in Truro that summer visiting family and remember seeing the school with some broken windows and some newly acquired graffiti. It was kind of sad; I had some good memories there (except for grade 3) and was curious as to what would happen to this beautiful brick building. Luckily the town of Truro decided to give this property back to the town in the form of commercial space and over-sized rental lofts.

"A stunning tribute to Truro’s heritage that redefines modern living"

Willow Street School was built in 1915 when brick and stone were the marks of true craftsmanship in architecture and engineering. Willow Lofts is a project dedicated to not only restoring such a part of Truro's heritage but to solidify its future as the premier location for professional business and modern living in our growing community.

Willow Lofts is conveniently located in the heart of Truro.  To the South you can stroll along the tree lined street of Smith Avenue or take a step in the other direction and you're in downtown Truro, a two minute walk to the grocery store, pharmacy, banks and other amenities. The ten large residential suites will be complimented with amenities such as: insuite laundry; large open floor plans; connectivity for both Aliant and Eastlink Services including a dedicated fiber optic run to each suite for future services.
