Tourism Plans 2014

Have you walked down Nelson at Homer Street recently? If-so, you may have noticed a change! The Yaletown Business Improvement Association (BIA) collaborated with the City of Vancouver Engineering department to bring some specialty paving to the area. The sidewalk has now been widened and imprinted with a brick pattern to create an attractive, clean and safe area to walk as you explore our neighbourhood.

Check it out, and let us know what you think. Your feedback will help guide the creative projects in the area - email us at info@yaletowninfo.com

March 20th marks the first day of spring. Get ready for some fresh beautiful flowers throughout Yaletown. We are finalizing a contract to have new flowers adorn the sidewalks - just in time to get you ready to enjoy strolling in the sunshine or sitting on the patios.

The Yaletown BIA landscaping team will be out soon, contact the BIA with any questions about planters near you. Flower planting is tentatively scheduled to begin in the first week of April.

We love new opportunities to build Yaletown's tourism appeal. New this year Yaletown will be an official destination in the Tourism Vancouver Tourism Challenge! What is the Tourism Challenge? - The Tourism Challenge brings nearly 20,000 participants who work in the tourism industry through several local attractions to help build the participants' familiarity and knowledge of all Vancouver has to offer.

Yaletown is very proud to be a featured neighbourhood in the Challenge. We will be inviting participants to explore the area with a unique scavenger hunt and photo contest. Be ready for tourism industry workers to be exploring our neighbourhood from April 19th until May 31st . To promote your business to Tourism professionals, why not donate a prize to our Photo Contest Prize Pack? Call us now to be included

On April 17, you'll find the Yaletown BIA at the Clefs d'Or Tourism Showcase. The Yaletown portion of the Tourism Showcase has an enduring tradition of bringing the most boisterous crowd to the exhibition hall at Canada Place. We are looking to up the ante this year with some special (secret!) features and new partnerships. If you have a Yaletown business and want to help represent the neighbourhood, send us an email.

Back by popular demand! Discover a traditional outdoor farmers market with fresh produce direct from the growers, artisan foods and baking, as well as non-food merchandise. The Yaletown Farmers Marker returns every Thursday from May 1 - Oct 2, from 2pm till 6pm. The Farmers Market will be open along Mainland Street between Davie and Helmcken.

Would you like to participate in the Yaletown Farmers Market? There are opportunities available, read more here.
