Sumas Mountain

Sumas Mountain or Area H on the electorial map was the place to live prior to Sumas Prairie being drained and Matsqui Prairie being protected by dykes. Today it remains governed by the Fraser Valley Regional District even though the City of Abbotsford has been working to incorporate the area into its jurisdiction. The community of Straiton, Kilgard and Barrowtown all fringe the Sumas Mountain area, (see map).
